Heritage Festival

A celebration of the history in Hartlepool, focusing, in 2014, on the centenary of the First World War, which began on 28th July 1914. There were numerous stalls and displays in the Headland Borough Hall, including information about the bombardment of Hartlepool which occurred on 16th December 1914, this marked the first death in action of a soldier on British soil in World War I.

David Geen, chairman of the organising committee and part of the Headland History Group, said: “This is an event we look forward to each year and as soon as one finishes the planning starts for the next one.”
